South Queens Edition
South Queens: Easily located by JFK International Airport, South Queens contains the magnificent Jamaica Bay Wildlife Preserve, marinas and fishing stations, luxurious waterfront communities and parks. Egrets and cormorants are commonly seen in the marshlands and skimming over the waters of Jamaica Bay. There are party boats for hire, horseback riding along bay-front trails and many Howard Beach residents moor their cabin cruisers directly behind their homes in deep water channels. There is also a neighborhood of protected, palatial mansions owned by construction company moguls.
The inland portion of the readership contains established residential neighborhoods recently revitalized by the settlement of new immigrants arriving between 1990 and 1998. Forest Park, a 450-acre wooded preserve in Woodhaven, provides family recreation with golf courses, a band shell, protected bridle paths, bicycle paths and athletic fields and children's playgrounds with a famous carousel.
