Mid-Queens Edition
Mid-Queens: A region of over 40,000 families, many of whom have lived in the same neighborhood for generations. Home ownership is widely promoted by outstanding local banks and well-maintained two and three-family houses predominate in the area. New single-family home construction is found largely in Middle Village, a region of rich land once famed for the floral greenhouse industry. Schools are very good, as reflected by excellent annual reading test scores. Mid-Queens is home to traditional blue-collar families, many of whom are City employees. They are active in community groups to preserve the quality of life, exerting pressure to obtain needed city services and the new construction of beautiful parks throughout Mid Queens. The readership is served by a network of express bus companies and city buses as there are no direct subway or railroad lines.
